SCI Assessed Mark Guarantees Confidence

The "SCI Assessed" mark is the guarantee that all steps leading to the performance data offered by the supplier are satisfactory and that the results can be used with confidence. In some instances SCI will have carried out parts of the development process, typically the generation of design data from tests or advanced software.

The “SCI Assessed” mark can be used across a range of applications – in each case the scope of the assessment is carefully defined and is detailed on the unique assessment record. Examples of the “SCI Assessed” mark include:

• Advanced software - the Assessment confirms that the results are acceptable when compared against a range of pre-defined, benchmark analyses
   
• Light gauge framing systems - the Assessment confirms that the design process is satisfactory, and that appropriate performance specifications are met
   
• Fibre reinforced composite slabs - the Assessment confirms that the design data published by the manufacturer has been calculated following a standard process and is appropriate for structural design
   
• High strength stainless steel – the Assessment covers the determination of material properties and the calculation of resistance data
   
• Cold formed components – the Assessment confirms that the resistance data published by the supplier has been correctly determined from tests, calculation or a combination of numerical analysis and physical testing, in accordance with standard procedures.
