The procedure for SCI Assessed for acoustic performance is dependent on the scope, the Client’s requirements and the system being assessed.
Information required:
1. Detailed description of the system to which the acoustic performance data relates.
2. Acoustic test data for the system, including full copies of the test reports. Test data may be laboratory or site based tests. Where test data is not available, the SCI can arrange acoustic testing as part of the assessment.
3. Intended applications and markets for the system and performance standards or regulations it is intended to satisfy.
4. Assumptions and derivations used to produce published acoustic performance from test results.
Assessment procedure:
1. If the technical literature is to be produced as part of the SCI Assessment, the scope of this literature will be agreed with the Client. A draft will be produced for the Client to review and a revised version produced with the agreed alterations included.
2. If acoustic testing is required for the assessment, the scope of testing will be agreed with the Client and arranged by the SCI.
On the basis that the scope of the assessment does not include drafting literature or arranging testing the follow steps shall be followed:
1. Check validity of test reports in terms of testing standards followed and the scope of testing compared to the scope of the technical literature.
2. Compare acoustic performance values quoted in literature with those determined for the test reports.
3. Validate that the system or product is appropriate for its intended use by comparison with relevant acoustic performance standards and building regulations.
4. The SCI will issue a report of the findings of the assessment to the client. The report may include changes that are required to technical literature before SCI Assessed can be granted.
